Why Lilly Pulitzer is Terrible

College football season is among us.  You know what that means.  Bring on the cloned army of Slut Nation.  Not even a worn in pair of cowgirl boots and a deep side part screams "I'm a sorostitute!" as loudly as that hot pink and kelley green dress. I know school just started back and it's football season and you just wanted a chance to wear that new dress you got over the summer... but the color scheme of that shit would hardly even be appropriate in that Katy Perry candyland music video.

Hey look! This is exciting! Pulitzer even makes sorority prints!  That's exactly what I need to set myself apart from the other sorority girls... As if my lettered mixer t-shirt, car sticker, nalgene and silver necklace pendant weren't enough to let people know that I'm a proud member of Kappa Gamma Zeta Delta.

In case you didn't know, there are a few rules that one must abide by when wearing an LP dress.
 1) Pearls are the only acceptable jewelry item that can be worn with said dress.  A David Yurman ring may also be acceptable
2) Jack Rogers and/or Tory Burch sandals are the proper footwear for a Lilly Pulitzer dress
3) A lovely pastel headband always makes a great addition
4) Need a handbag? Try a Vineyard Vines monogrammed one!
5) If chilly, a pastel or argyle sweater should be brought along to keep the chill off of your delicate skin
6) After changing out of Lilly Pulitzer dress, a Ralph Lauren button-down blouse should be worn with jeans accompanied by Sperry Topsiders footwear.
7) If you actively do any of the aforementioned things you are either a huge cornball or a huge dooouuuucccchhhe.  I'm sorry, there's no way around it.  You needed to know.

Sorority sluts, it's time to reevaluate those wardrobes.  If you're going to drop two-fifty on a dress, how about thinking twice and picking up something that isn't printed in yellow and orange crabs, 'cause after last weekend's sexcapades with those two dudes in the same frat... you probably have 'em anyway.

  1. WHEW! When I first saw this picture I was TERRIFIED you were in there somewhere. "Do I even know this girl anymore???" I was scared to look, but very happy once I did. I love not living in a college town anymore! No more whores and d-bags. Well, not so visible at least.

    1. I am sorry poor girl who are you? Ohhhhhh you are just some random GDI that hates on people better than her.

It is OK though, if I had grown up all ugly and lowerclass, I would probably hate all the people better than me too.

  2. Dear Christina, I stumbled upon this while looking for a Lilly background for my twitter and I feel the need to defend not only myself, but the rest of us "sorostitutes." Last night I wore a Lilly dress, pearls, and heels to cook my medical school fratdaddy of 2 years a wonderful dinner. He dresses conservatively, loves hunting, fishing, working hard, politics, and treating his lady like a princess...he is definitely not a "douche." I have never slept around and I keep my drinking in moderation, along with many sorority girls; sorostitutes are an exception, not the rule doll. Our kids will be raised with traditional Christian values, in private schools, involved in the community, and have class...unlike many of your kind. Maybe instead of attacking us classy ladies wearing dresses, shoes, and jewelry you probably can't afford, you should learn from our example and be a better contribution to society. xoxo

    1. oh because everything you just said wasn't judgemental? "jewelry you probably can't afford" "be a better contribution to society" "have class...unlike many of your kind". How do you know that the person who wrote this article hasn't grown up with traditional christian values? or isn't in private schools? and what's wrong with attending a public school? how do you know that they're not involved in the community? maybe they do community service? there is a different between defending yourself and attacking the OP. You were just as harsh and judgemental as them. bitch.

    2. your "medical school fratdaddy" dresses conservatively, loves hunting, fishing, working hard, politics, and treating his lady like a princess... sounds like a COMPLETE douche! 100% and who said you will have kids with him anyway?

You don't know who you are speaking to so saying "your kind" shows just how immature and frankly incompetent you are. You cannot be judgmental of someone you know nothing about. However, we can judge you as much as we want since you decided to include your pathetically bland life story in your comment.

    4. To Blessyourheart or whatever your stupid name is. Your comment and the comments of these other preppy cult brainwashed bitches pretty much justifies why Christina wrote this article in the first place lmao! I'm sure your "frat daddy" boyfriends carrot has been in the crevices of multiple other fake sluts you call your "sisters" or I'm sorry desperate insecure girls who don't possess the people skills necessary to actually get out there and make friends on their own, so mommy and daddy have to pay for it. PATHETIC! If you're still probably southern maybe you're hiding a secret. Who's your "doctor beau" your cousin???? I know you guys kind of like to keep the bloodlines close in southern cult society. Your statement pretty much sums up your stupidity and why the rest of America makes fun of the south, sororities, and fraternities In general. As a former ZTA member myself who dropped out after only one semester. (Unaware of the true meaning behind Greek Life at rush.) I know what goes on behind these cults. Judgmental, racist, homophobic cunts and douchebags = Greek Life. You judge other girls based on wealth and materialistic means. And naturally your attitude of "I'm better than everyone else because my parents have money so naturally I'm privileged." Is disgusting. Wait until your parents don't bug you anymore and you're out of college. All you will reminisce on is the fact that you were a member of an outdated cult, wearing even more outdated hideous "fashions" that look like they got barfed up from a 60s acid trip. What are you going to do now become a gold digging trophy wife? As many of The great fashion icons and bloggers state in their articles, "Lilly Pullitzer is not fashion, its hideous clothing only popularized in a very subdued and minute sector of society." As an independent thinking woman myself who is thankful for having parents who funded her first two years of college, I choose not to accept their offer in my final two years. You know why? Because I wanted to experience what real life was. I wanted to work and become a contributing member of society. I paid for law school and now possess a law degree all because of my own hard work. Hard work brings a feeling of gratitude in the end. I realize I may be the pot calling the kettle black on the subject of judgment with this comment, but I am allowed to give my two cents. Sororities and fraternities ARE CANCER and need to be obliterated ( as well as Lilly Pulitzer.) There is no logical point why they still exist. I typed this in my room as I look at my collection of Chanel handbags which I purchased myself. When you judgmental cult cunts can afford "real designer fashion" such as Chanel or Dior without daddy's credit card or a sugar daddy, then you can bitch at me. Peace out mofos!!!

  3. I too feel the same way as Blessyourheart. Just please get some class, Christina. You don't know those women, therefore you cannot throw out judgements about their personal lives. Have you ever thought that maybe, just maybe, these women are dressed so nicely because it's during recruitment? I guess not. I love Lilly and I think many of these lovely women pull it off very well.

    2. It truly amazes me that in this day and age when tolerance and diversity are the mantra, especially of the young and educated, that some people get themselves in a near convulsion of hate at the mere sight of a group of young women who enjoy wearing colorful dresses. I think there is a word for this, it's called JEALOUSLY. This can be the only logical explanation for the downright hatred spewing out of their mouths at a group of girls who have not committed a crime or hurt anyone or anything by choosing to wear a dress. Maybe you should consider focusing your attention on things that actually matter instead of picking on people you don't even know. I'm sure you can find some worthy causes to concentrate on that might actually help someone instead of throwing hurtful comments around.

  4. I just love that you think all sorority girls are sluts. Way to stereotype. Sure, some members of sororities go out and give people like you reasons to think all of us are like that. But honestly, no one is without flaw and people make mistakes and not every sorority member acts promiscuous. As a matter of fact, I know several of my sisters and other members of my school's Greek organizations are waiting until marriage. With that being said, many members of my local NPC strive for Greek Woman of the Month or Greek Woman of the Year, 2 highly revered recognitions. Get your facts straight before you acuse all sorority women so harshly.

  5. This is wonderful, and disturbingly accurate for the most part. The point that she's getting at that most of you aren't seeing has nothing to do with sex but individuality. It IS disgusting that every girl in that picture has on the same dress, there is no arguing that point.

    1. If you read the words in these comments you have read that this is about what it is about. It is about "labeling" PEOPLE. It is not about the fact that a group of women happen to like a particular label of clothing. You can look at every brand of clothing or furniture or type of car or hairstyle or shoes etc.etc. and find that there are individuals who like and have a preference for one brand or type over another. Take a look anywhere on any campus and tell me how many men and women wear athletic shoes for example. Does this mean that each of those individuals wearing this type of shoe are trashing their identity as people? The fact is that a persons individuality or the things about them that make them special in their own way have nothing to do with outer appearance. It doesn't matter how many women in this photo are wearing Lilly Pulitzer dresses because it doesn't change who or what they are as individuals. Unless you know these people personally, you don't know them. Try looking beyond the fact that they all like this brand of clothing and see that each of them has a different face, and a somewhat different smile. Each one is a person with feelings, hopes and dreams just like you. So what if they like these dresses and thought it would be fun to wear them as a group for the picture, this does not destroy their individuality because an article of clothing can't destroy who or what a person is on the inside. When you use the word "disgusting" in reference to someone's appearance because you do not like the choice of clothing they have made then you don't know the real meaning of the word disgusting. There are disgusting things in this world and they have absolutely nothing to do with a group of young women wearing the same brand of clothing for a photo. Do a reality check.

    2. UGGGGGG! you are so disgusting!

I can not believe that a poor, trashy, GDI like you would ever say such horrible things about these ∆Z's.

I would have understood if you would have said that some of them need to loose some weight (seriously, no one likes a porky slampiece.) Or that most of them have fat arms and need to hit the lipo. But you decided to bash sisterhood and that is unforgivable!

I am sure that whatever hipster hellhole that you live in, people dont wear Lilly, they probably also dont wear pearls, duck boots, croakies, chubbies, or VV. The thing is that we dont wear this stuff to belong, we wear it to EXCLUDE!

You are excluded, not wanted, and your opinion does not matter. We are better than you, our trust funds are bigger, our boyfriends all are going to law school and even if they fail out they can get a $200,000 a year job working with their dad.

Sure I will have a degree in early childhood education, but you know what? All that degree does is let me know how to help my own children achieve, because I will never have to work.

So while trashy GDI's like you are working hard in your 9-5 remember how you decided to bash us. Those of us who are better than you, from better families, who are the 1% and will pass our money down to our children; who will be better than your children.

  8. I have to say I agree with Blessyourheart too! It is rarely beneficial to stereotype people, it is what causes the abundance of discrimination and conflict in our world. I found this picture looking for a background for my laptop's desktop and I was surprised at the harsh comments I found here. There are all types of girls out there who are slutty but I think it is unfair to judge all sorority girls by this stereotype. Lilly Pulitzer makes fresh, bright and modest clothing that I would argue is far less slutty than the tiny shorts and midriff baring tops most girls wear now days. I commend those girls in the picture for having a little pride in their appearance!

    ReplyDelete
  9. Okay.
All the comments from those who lump every girl in this picture as slutty and pathetic, etc. are most likely the same ones who are biased towards any people who follow any kind of trend. If any of you are on facebook, text in abbreviations, wear skinny jeans....guess what? YOU are following trends too. I suggest you read the book The Tipping Point and see how trends get started. I am 49, NOT in a sorority, and I KNOW that those of you who point fingers because these girls like to wear the same type of clothes are either jealous are have had a bad experience with someone who seemed "preppy" and/or one-upped you. I've seen this my whole life and I know the type you finger-pointers really are. Enough said...quit your mean-girl whining.

  10. As a sister of a sorority I find this highly sterotypical and well rather untrue. Maybe if you took the time to look past the pearls and Lilly, which arevery cute, you could get to know who they truely are and maybe even be friends with them.i know that statement may come as a shock to you but if you quit judging people and instead placed that time and energy into getting to know them you may just think differently. I'm sorority chapter is at a very small school and barely any of my sisters wear pearls and Lilly. Maybe you should broaden your judgmental horizons. And I find it quite bold that you feel the need to comment on their sex life. That is none of your business and to assume that not only will their dresses have crabs is totally uncalled for.

  11. I too came across this site looking for Lilly stuff, and as a "sorostitute" myself, I find that you are judging a very large group of girls with only one stereotypical mindset. Most of us like to dress nice, whats the big deal? We rather be put together and nice looking than messy. Also, most of us have christian values that we look into and I know for a fact myself, I do not sleep around and most of my sisters do not either. There is an exception to this but that is only a small percentage. Also, many sorority girls drink in moderation, I know that I am always sober sally. Just because you don't like sorority girls, or maybe couldn't get into one, doesn't mean you have to hate on us girls.

Christina you should probably get to know girls that wear lilly dresses before attacking. Having the decency to do so is called Class. Something you are lacking.

  19. This is so funny. I have never even heard of Lily.. whatever. I buy most of my clothes at thrift stores. I just stumbled upon this page and found it very entertaining. I spend my money on guitars & expensive shit that matters, that helps me express my individuality - not compromise it. Par exemple! I might wear a weird t-shirt from 1980 that cost $5, but spend $500 on... I don't know a bearskin rug because I like the way it feels on my feet. Ladies, use that money to travel! Buy a grand piano! Produce a strange play about the plight of alley cats! Donate it to medecin sans frontiers! Meet poison! Anything but those terrible dresses!

  20. I too stumbled upon this website during a search for a cute Lilly background. Sweetie, instead of writing a blog about how things are so "terrible", why don't you focus on something positive like the women in this picture? Because the way I see it, we sorority women focus on happiness and bettering ourselves through sisterhood while you're sitting alone behind a computer screen drowning in hatred. I wonder who will lead the more fulfilling life...

  21. To the people begging for us "sorostitute clones" to be original, take a look at your friends and see if you don't have similar tastes in clothing, music, activities, etc. I once saw a South Park episode where a group of goths told one of the boys that for him to be "unique" like them, that he has to dress and act exactly as they do. As I've noticed many people who claim to be "unique" tend to be just like one another. I know this post wasn't perfect grammar-wise, but many of you calling us "idiots" possess horrendous grammar and spelling. Thank you so much to the ladies kindly backing me up! To those wondering- I made ceasar salad, garlic cheesy bread, chicken and broccoli tortellini alfredo, and chocolate cake! I also apologize to the author of this post for criticizing her financial status. It takes all kinds to make the world go round, so love thy neighbor and learn to stop criticizing/stereotyping a great group of ladies for choosing a different sense of style:) Xoxo

  23. This is actually disgusting. I'm in a sorority. My closet is filled with Lilly, Vineyard Vines, Jack Rogers, Tory, and I enjoy the occasional Southern Proper or Southern Tide. I spend a good deal of time at my country club. My boyfriend is in a fraternity. These things would all deem me a sorostitute, right? Yeah, except I go to one of the top universities in the country. Paying for it myself. I earned an academic scholarship to the prominent boarding school I attended, as well. I drive an Audi, yeah. But I've been working for that baby since I got my first job at 14. But you're right. All of us sorostitutes are exactly the same. I'm kind of embarrassed, actually, because you obviously know what my friends, sisters, and boyfriend are like far better than I.

I'm truly sorry that you're so unhappy with yourself. You must be, right? Otherwise you wouldn't feel the need to categorize and stereotype people you've never met. A lot of girls do fit the bill of what you've described here in this feeble attempt you've made to feel better about yourself. But a lot don't. I'm not angry or insulted, just very, very sorry for you.

  26. So you are stating that all women who wear Lilly are sluts? So you don't wear one single brand that other people wear? I'm in a sorority. I do not have tons of money. I work for everything I have. I do not sleep around at ALL! I have a boyfriend which I have had for 2 years now. He works just as much as I do. Most of my sorority sisters are in a long term relationship. We have the highest gpa on campus which rises above the nations average student gpa. My sisters are one of my best friends that I can call or run to at any time for help. On top of work I contribute to society with the many charities we do. I don't understand why you are "hating." Have you had a bad experience with one sorority? Did they hurt your feelings? Why don't you actually get to know one of those girls then bashing them on some website.

    ReplyDelete
  27. and also....why do you care so much? How or what you makes you think that you know everything about sorority life? Please inform me.

  28. I stumbled on here after hearing "Lilly Pulitzer" on a blog...those dresses are beyond heinous.

Yet that's besides the point. The dresses themselves don't buy you class; it's what you do in them (or out of them) that counts.

I just thought it was troubling that one gal felt the need to brag about her med school beau. I'm in med school, and would take no pride in claiming my man's accomplishments as my own. Perhaps that's how that do it down south - but here, we consider class differently. Sororities may be about sisterhood, but they also are about conforming.

Some of us Yankee women don't stand for that sort of nonsense. And some of us non-sorority gals would love it if "y'all" would learn how to spell and punctuate properly.

    ReplyDelete
  29. We southern belles would also love it if y'all Yankees moved your busisness back up North. I know it's great down South, but a little Yankee goes a long way.

  30. I agree with Bless Your Heart. Just because you wear Lilly Pulitzer does not mean you are a slut. Lilly is not just for "slutty" girls, my mother loves Lilly and always wears her dresses when she goes to luch with friends or for a party, and she ALWAYS looks classy. My grandmother also loves Lilly. You are being stereotypical and its not very lady like. You should really go look in the mirror for a while and realize that what you say is not in the least bit true. Please do us all a favor and find something better to wright about!

  31. This post really upsets me. I go to school in the south but I am by most people considered to be from the north. I don't own a single Lilly dress or any Tory Burch or Jack Rogers shoes. Yes, many of my sisters do own these items, however, they still accept me even if I don't want to. I grew up going to church and I haven't so much as kissed more than one boy the entire time I have been in college and I'm well in to my second year now. I know that sororities can seem like a group of girls that just all think the same and dress the same, but that is not the case. All of my sisters are interested in different things and while we all have the sorority in common I definitely don't let it define me. Yes, I do wear my letters almost every day because I am proud to be a member of my sorority. We were founded based on the ideas of bettering ourselves. The point of these sisterhoods is to meet people different from yourself to help you learn and grow individually. My sorority holds scholarship to a very high standard and nationals of each sorority hold each individual chapter on every campus accountable for their actions. While it may be easy for you to stereotype us and look down on us, you are wrong. I am a proud, Christian, and independent young woman and member of an incredible sisterhood. Though you are entitled to your own opinion, I suggest thar in the future you learn more about theses organizations before making such harsh generalizations.

  35. Look, the blog post is inarticulate. It also stereotypes wildly. But the dresses really are problematic. First, there is really nothing creative in them. They are a thousand miles from fashion. You can call that "timeless" or "traditional" if you want. I call it provincial. Second, the clothing is infantilizing. It gives new meaning to being "dolled up." And that, really, is creepy on some level (and I don't mean in the Stepford/sorority way, which is creepy, too).

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Of course this is problematic. I mean anyone who would wear a dress with pink in it is basically an infant. In fact all dresses in general are "creepy" as hell. The poor women in this picture are obviously deranged from the trauma of being infantilized and will not be able to function in society as a result. I say lock them all up, they are a menace to society.

  39. Sweetie, as it has been said before, all sorority member are NOT sorostitutes. Many members are classy young ladies who take pride in their morals and values which their mothers taught them. I know up north mothers do not teach their children manners and how to act like a lady, but down south we take immense pride in it. Lilly is not slutty and it is not stereotypical. I know many sisters that despise Lilly clothing. However, Lilly is a style icon in the South. Remember Jackie Kennedy and how classy and sophisticated she was? Guess what brands she wore...Lilly and Jack Rogers. Southern belles will always love their Lilly Pulitzer clothing, whether you agree with it or not. Any girl who wears Lilly could care less if you think it is ugly, we all just feel sorry that you need to stereotype in order to feel better about yourself.

    ReplyDelete
  40. I would feel more sympathy for the posters in the comment section if they didn't speak in the royal "we" nor flaunt the fact that their money buys them morals and class. It doesn't. And the arguments made against the blog author stereotyping sorority girls are nullified when these girls are stereotyping themselves.

If all that was simply said was "We dress alike for special events" or "Just because one belongs to a group doesn't nullify their individuality. Generalizing simply shows that you haven't bothered to know a sorority member" maybe the Greek community would have more backing from outsiders stumbling across this blog and grounding for their complaints against defamation. But the hateful comments made in the comments section show the commentators to be no better than the Original Poster.

"I'm so sorry you had a bad childhood, and didn't wear the same clothes as all the pretty girls in your class because your mom couldn't afford them"

"Maybe instead of attacking us classy ladies wearing dresses, shoes, and jewelry you probably can't afford, you should learn from our example and be a better contribution to society. "

Being a narcissist does not make you classy, and the the clothes and jewelry you can or can't afford contributes little to society.

    Thanks for playing.

"we all just feel sorry that you need to stereotype in order to feel better about yourself."

"It's not our fault we were all born into money."

" even you will one day find a man who finds a hostile little slob such as yourself attractive. While you're waiting for him, why don't you simmer down and stop insulting your superiors"

"We southern belles would also love it if y'all Yankees moved your busisness back up North. I know it's great down South, but a little Yankee goes a long way."

#1. The author has a right to express her opinion. It may not be yours but she has a right to say what she wants.
#2. Anyone who comments has a right to their opinion. Nobody has a "correct" view because everyone has a different view.
#3. Rather than hastily writing a snappy retort, why not ponder what the author or previous commentators have said. Everyone offers something different to the discussion, and you might just learn something from them or the author.
#4. For the love of God, this is only a tongue-in-cheek piece of writing. Don't take it too seriously.

Okay, I'm seriously late to this, but who cares. First off, Christina, you needn't be so rude. You don't like sorority girls? Don't be friends with them. You don't like Lilly? Don't wear the label's clothes. If you're so concerned other females' sex lives and potential STDs, get a medical or public health degree and get to work bettering the world! (Just remember that you can't slutshame when you're doing treating patients). Whining that the bright colors are assaulting your eyes is pointless.

But all of you "classy Christian Southern sorority" commenters--calling her names for stating her opinion (which again, **could have been said more nicely**), is just as bad. You don't care for her opinion? Okay. Disagreeing is fine, but doing so in a defensive, name-calling manner is not "classy," as you suggest, it's tacky. And it certainly isn't Christian to speak so rudely about how great you were raised and how poorly Christina must have been or that you're married to a doctor (goodie for you!) and she's clearly a lonely, sad panda.

You like Lilly? Jack Rogers? Tory Burch? Wear the hell out of them! Do it proudly and ignore (not rudely engage) comments like Christina's.

    You all lose this argument.

  102. After reading this post, and a few others by this Christina character, I have come to the conclusion that this woman (or man since we never truly know who is who on the internet) is an extremely bitter person. Christina, and I say this with much concern towards your mental health, please consider therapy so that you can resolve this bitterness you have. It's one thing to have an opinion, but it's another to insult and bring down others just for personal enjoyment. Hope you are well.

    ReplyDelete
  103. Hi, I'm not on either side of the argument. However, I don't feel that you truly answered the question. Why is Lilly Pulitzer terrible?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. haha true, she sure seemed to go get a little carried away with her ranting.

      Delete
  104. As this is a blogpost, you are completely entitled to you opinion. However, I feel that this post is hurtful and close minded. Lilly Pulitzer is a brand of clothing, like Hollister or Roxy. It is just a brand. Any external connotations that get attached to it are not supported by the brand itself. It is composed of colorful, happy, and beachy prints that happen to make some people happy. Yes it is true that a lot of Sorority girls wear it, but not all sorority girls do. And not everyone who wears it is a sorority girl. I dont see anything wrong with wanting to promote a happy fun brand. So what if someone wants to wear a Lilly dress with pearls and Jack Rogers? Whats does it matter to you? Wearing Lilly Pulitzer doesnt make someone a Sorostitute anymore than shopping at Hot Topic makes you emo. Everyone should be entitled to wear what they want without judgement from others. Dont like Lilly Pulitzer? Dont wear it. You don;t have to insult those who do. Lilly Pulitzer promotes a fun, happy, classy lifestyle. That is not a bad thing. If the brands not for you, then thats okay but you dont need to be hurtful towards those who do like it.

    ReplyDelete
  105. Bravo! Well said and extremely insightful. How could it be possible for any person wearing a Lilly P. dress to even have a brain much less be literate enough to read the bible. In face I think that everyone who is personally offended that these women are wearing this clothing brand should seriously consider circulating a petition stating that a concentration camp should be built to house these disgusting loathsome hypocrites who wear Lilly dresses. Yes, this is something that MUST in the name of Almighty God be done. Let's stop this vermin in their tracks, especially the ones who wear pearls. Everyone knows that only a degenerate rat not worth living would wear these. What is the world coming to. Let us unite in the spirit of true brotherhood before it's too late. Act now for all who do not wear Lilly dresses in a photograph are in eminent peril. Concentration camps are the only answer. This is a noble cause.Let us rid ourselves of this scum.

    ReplyDelete
  106. The sheer brilliance of this is astounding. It's people like you who make Einstein look ignorant. This truly restores my faith in humanity. There is nothing more uplifting and a credit to the human race than someone who's comment's are free of bias and stereotyping and tempered with intelligence, kindness, and grace.

    ReplyDelete
  107. Why would anyone not love Sorority life and sisterhood? Being in a Sorority makes you a better person and shows that you have good, strong, wholesome values.

The only people that seem not to like Greek life are GDI's that do not have what it takes, either ethically or socially to fit in. Those who are Greek are simply better than GDI's and I guess this is the cause of the jealousy.

BTW: I wear Lilly, rock pearls, drink from a koozie, hang my Costa's on Croakies, and have a man who wears a bowtie and a blazer with the smallest Chubbies imaginable. We ARE what is right with America. We ARE the future. We ARE better than you!

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Oh, and for all you "typical" sorority girls that are leaving responses about how you're amazing and how sorority girls are perfect, seriously stop. You are not helping our cause in denying the stereotypical banter we are accused of. We are not better then others, we just chose to join a society and chose to spend our our time and money on something that will help us later in life and our education. This is our choice and those who will never know what it is like to be in a sorority will never understand and there is no use in wasting your time to try and make them see any differently.

      Delete
  108. This is seriously the saddest waste of time. Why would you ever feel so strongly that you had to post such a negative piece of trash. All sororities are different as well as where they are located and the girls associated within them. I see plenty of slutty and horrible girls who aren't in sororities. For those of you whom seem to have this sick obsession with bashing on all young women in sororities please realize how pathetic you sound. Don't you have anything better to do with your time? Many if not most of these girls have just moved away to school and joined a sorority so they can have a home away from home and a strong base to structure their future and networking around. Everyone who is newly out of high school or away from home will go crazy with sleeping around or boozing or worse (and if you don't agree, then lucky for you, you must be gods gift on earth, but not everyone is as perfect as you) the only problem that some girls have is that they are associated with a sorority. Not all girls are rich and bitchy, most are intelligent/determined/ambitious/and work hard for all they have. And lastly, to be able to stay in a sorority, the girls must keep up good grades, their financial responsibilities, and time management, as well as many other important life lessons like manners and respect, something most of you are in great need of. Now get off the computer and do something constructed with your life instead of making your generation look petty and whiny.

  112. To Blessyourheart or whatever your stupid name is. Your comment and the comments of these other preppy cult brainwashed bitches pretty much objectifies why Christina wrote this article in the first place lmao. I'm sure your "fratdaddy" boyfriend's carrot has been in the crevices of multiple other fake sluts you call your "sisters" or I'm sorry desperate insecure girls who don't possess the people skills to actually know how to get out there and make friends on their own, so mommy and daddy have to pay for it. PATHETIC. If you're so "proudly southern" maybe you're hiding a secret, is your "doctor beau" your cousin??? I know you guys kind of like to keep the bloodlines close in southern cult society. Your statement pretty much sums up your stupidity, and why the rest of America makes fun of the south and sororities and fraternitites in general. As a former ZTA member myself who dropped out after only one semester. (Unaware of the true meaning behind Greek life at the time of rush) I know what goes on behind these cults. Judgment, racism, homophobic douchebags and cunts = Greek life. You judge other girls based on wealth and materialistic means. And naturally your attitude of "I'm better than everyone else because my parents have money so naturally I'm priviledged." Is disgusting. Wait until your parents don't fund you anymore and you're out of college. All you will reminisce on is the fact that you were a member of an outdated cult wearing even more outdated hideous fashions that look like they got barfed up from a 60's acid trip. What are you going to do now become a golddigging trophy wife? As many of the great fashion icons and bloggers state in their articles; Lilly Pulitzer is not fashion, Its hideous clothing only popularized in a very subdued and minute sector of society. As a woman myself who is thankful for having parents who funded her first two years of college, I chose not to accept their offer in my final 2 years. You know why? because I wanted to experience what real life was. I wanted to work and become a contributing member of society. I paid for law school and now possess a law degree all because of my own hard work. Hard work brings a feeling of gratitude in the end. I realize I may be the pot calling the kettle black on the subject of judgment with this comment, but I felt like I had to give my two cents. Sororities and fraternitites ARE CANCER and need to be obliterated. (As well as Lilly Pullitzer) I write this in my room as I look at my collection of Chanel handbags which I purchased myself. When you judgmental cult cunts can afford "real designer fashion" such as Chanel and Dior without daddy's credit card or a sugar daddy. Then you can bitch at me. Peace Out Mofos!!!
